Gothic subculture
the Trad goth
The Original Goth. Whether they were actually around in the 80s or not, the Trad Goth most values the traditional scene from its earliest days, when it began to evolve from Punk.
Trad Goths venerate those original Goth bands - Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Birthday Party, The Sisters of Mercy and anything played in the infamous Batcave club. Other influential bands (e.g. The Velvet Underground) may also be revered as minor deities.
Fashion is, naturally, based on the look from the period, which itself was heavily influenced by Punk - fishnets, leather jackets, piercings - in addition to heavy make-up, HUGE hair and the occassional bit of bondage gear. And, of course, lots of black. When not listening to their extensive record collection, TradGoths may be found enjoying a snakebite & black and a clove cigarette at the local “goth” pub or club.
Sadly, TradGoths often believe that Goth is, appropriately, dead, and the modern scene offers little consolation. New “goth” music genres such as EBM are perhaps their biggest pet peeve.
The Romantic Goth
romantic goth
romantigoth
While TradGoths tend to be all about the 80s music scene, Romantic Goths (or "RomantiGoths") focus on the dark, sensual and mysterious world of Gothic created by Victorian literature and subsequent movies. In other words they’re probably more “Gothic” than “Goth,” if that makes sense. Identifying features are velvet and lace, flowy clothes (often Victorian or Medieval inspired), and a love of poetry and literature.
It is therefore unsuprising that Romantic Goths are typically emotional, creative and dreamy types. Dead roses, crumbling graveyards and old skulls are things of exquisite beauty to these creatures. Preferred bands tend to be those that focus on “brooding” rather than “horror,” and so may include downtempo ethereal bands (eg. Love Spirals Downwards), and folk-ish bands (All About Eve, Faith and the Muse). The Sisters of Mercy and The Cure tend to go down well too. And of course a bit of atmospheric Classical music, especially Bach or Wagner.
The Fetish Goth
fetish goth
Kinkyness has been a part of the Goth movement from the beginning since the first Goth musicians like Bauhaus started wearing chains, leather, fishnet and strappy bondage gear on stage. Today the image (and lifestyle) remains popular, with modern Fetish Goths having an even wider range of sexy bondage-related clothes available to choose from. Tattoos, piercings and other forms of body modification are also popular among this type. And they quite possibly all have a set of handcuffs, mask/gag and some sort of spanking implement in their bedside table.
Pretty much every Goth band has written a song about kinky sex at some point, so there’s no real preferential genre associated with Fetish Goths, although 80s New Wave (eg. Depeche Mode) and Industrial (eg. Throbbing Gristle) tend to be more fetishy than most.
As one might expect, the stereotypical Fetish Goth has tried everything at least once everywhere and in every position, with every gender. Or at least that’s what they’ll tell you.
The Gothabilly
What do you get if you mix Elvis Presley, The Cramps, a bunch of old horror movies and a splash of lounge? Bizarrely, you get Gothabilly - a rare and exotic breed of Goth with rather eclectic tastes in both music and wardrobe.
With styles originating from “Rockabilly” (American 1950s rock n roll) and “Psychobilly” (1980s punk with a heavy rockbilly influence), Gothabilly is visually and musically a play on retro, kitsch aesthetics - but with a dark twist. Like Deathrock, which often shows many overlapping traits with Gothabilly, the music and imagery is frequently tongue-in-cheek and deliberately cheesy. As such, many Gothabilly bands sport such creative names as Nacho Knoche & The Hillbilly Zombies, Cult Of The Psychic Fetus, and Vampire Beach Babes.
Gothabillys tend to be some of the brighter Goths out there, with their vivid tattoos, cherry accessories and ubiquitous polka dot clothes.
The Cabaret Goth
The Rivethead
Rivet Heads, or Industrial Goths, often do not consider themselves “Goths,” although their preferred music and fashion can be found in the same shops and they’ll happily go to Goth clubs. The scene all started with the band Throbbing Gristle forming their own label, Industrial Records, for a new genre of extremely weird experimental electronic music. For some Rivet Heads, this is the only “real” Industrial music - bands like SPK and The Leather Nun which spawned from this scene of the early 80s.
However, in the modern era the Industrial scene has come to resemble a dark, rough, dystopian version of the Cyber scene. The modern Rivethead may listen to Darkwave bands resembling a heavier form of EBM (Wumpscut, Skinny Puppy), or even the commercial “Industrial Metal” bands (Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, KMFDM).
Industrial fashion is somewhat like Cyber in its futuristic appearance but is generally more monochrome, less polished and often has a military influence. It is also undeniable that Sc-Fi movies such as The Matrix have inspired the look of many Rivet Heads - a lot of them will refuse to remove their trenchcoats even in the sweatiest clubs.
The Perky Goth
More of a general attitude than a true type, Perky Goths know how to have a good time. Abandoning the dark and gloomy Gothic stereotype, these Goths are cheerful, friendly and often bouncy to the point of hyperactive. They see the gothic lifestyle primarily as a way to have fun.
Because they often don brighter colours and readily dance crazily to the more upbeat music in the gothic spectrum, Perky Goths are often associated with the Cyber scene. However, you’ll find plenty of Perkies in all other aspects of the scene, from Death Rockers to Victorian vampires. The key point is, these Goths do not make the mistake of taking themselves too seriously.
The typical Perky Goth loves all the cheesiest and silliest aspects of Goth, including cute things, 80s cartoons and TV shows and anything to do with Halloween. While music tastes are diverse, typical Perky Goth bands include 80s electropop (eg. Strawberry Switchblade), silly-as-hell Death Rock (eg. Alien Sex Fiend) and comedy artists (eg. Voltaire).
The Victorian Goth
One of the biggest influences on Gothic fashion has been the imagery in Gothic literature and their movie counterparts, particular that of Victorian writers such as Edgar Allen Poe and Bram Stoker. Victorian fashions like corsets, lace, frock coats and pale skin are popular throughout the scene, but maybe none wear them with as much style as the Victorian Goth.
Like their Victorian role models, the Victorian Goths wish to convey an image of decorum and dignity. Clothes must be smart and, for many, historically accurate (corsets are to be worn beneath one’s garments, of course). Ball dress and mourning garb are particularly prominent in the scene.
Victorian Goths may also indulge in activities that were popular in Victorian high society, including theatre, masquerades, tea parties and poetry. And, naturally, any kind of Dickensian or other Victorian festival that gives them an excuse to parade around in costume (not that they need an excuse).
As for music, opera and classical are the true Victorian Gothic genres, but Victorian-inspired bands such as Rasputina are also acceptable.
The Metalhead
Where Metalheads fit in the Gothic spectrum is an incredibly complicated issue, and a controversial one. On the one hand, many Goths (and Metalheads) point out that the two subcultures are separate entities, having different origins and music tastes, and other disparities in clothing and habits, and that the common confusion between the two is merely the fault of an uninformed public.
But on the other hand, the two groups do have enough similarities (particularly in a tendency to wear black and a love of things dark and spooky) for the two groups to mix, and more and more these days one will find crossovers in fashion and music. Clubs that play both metal and Goth music are certainly not uncommon.
Moreover, there are a number of Metal genres and bands that both sides can be found listening to, including the so-called “Gothic” or “Doom” metal genre (Type O Negative, Theatre of Tragedy) or bands that use Gothic imagery (Nightwish, Lacuna Coil), and arguably sound more “Gothic” than the original Goth bands. Not to mention the confusion the “Industrial Metal” genre (Nine Inch Nails, Rammstein) puts on the issue. It all ultimately depends on one’s definition of “Goth,” and whether it is sound, image or behaviour that determines the subculture.
The Vampire Goth
Pale, brooding, adverse to sunlight and attracted to strange period clothing. It’s no wonder that Goths became so strongly associated with vampires as early on as Bauhaus’ “Bela Lugosi’s Dead.” Naturally, there are Goths out there who take their love of vampires one step further. They’re the ones who might don black capes and sunglasses when they go out during the day, join “vampire societies,” and whose bookshelves are filled with Anne Rice and White Wolf rule books. They’ve watched all the Dracula movies out there and are planning on visiting Romania next summer (failing that, Whitby). And they’re very partial to red wine, but not so keen on garlic.
Quick to pick up on the popularity of vampires within the subculture, a large number of Goth and Goth-related bands have done a “vampire song,” although more vampire-friendly ones include Nosferatu, Inkubus Sukkubus and, of course, Theatres des Vampires. Because they generally don’t take themselves too seriously and love Goth for both its romantic grace and its cheesy overtones,
Vampire Goths are normally very fun people to be around. Just don’t let them get too close to your neck.
. The Medieval Goth
“Gothic” is normally used to refer to castles, cathedrals and other such ancient masonry, hence the prominence of Goths who have a particular interest in all things medieval. Dressing in garb (loosely) based on that of the medieval period, you may find these Goths at Renaissance Fairs or re-enactment society events. Of course, their dress and activities do not have to necessarily be strictly “Medieval:” blending with Tudor or Celtic elements seems perfectly fine too.
Naturally, Medieval Goths have an enormous sense of history, and may also be found in museums, castles, churches and ancient monuments. And when they go to cemeteries, they actually look at the names and dates on the gravestones. When they get married, they have medieval-themed weddings and live in a house filled with pre-Raphaelite prints and gargoyles.
Medieval Goth music may comprise of classical and Gregorian chants combined with folk (Loreena McKennit), ethereal (Faith and the Muse) and, of course, Mediaeval Baebes.
Generally, all female Medieval Goths would secretly like to be Morgan-le-Fay from the Arthurian legends, and all male Medieval Goths have a fixation with swords.
The Geek Goth
Essentially, all Goths are Geeks. After all, how can one devote so much time into dressing up, reading old literature and collecting obscure music without being somewhat Geeky? You will hence find typical Geek traits in all Goths, but some will be more Geeky than others.
The typical Geek Goth tends to place less emphasis on Goth as a fashion, and more on its overtones of dark fantasy. So while they may not look as spectacularly Gothic as other Goth Types, their knowledge of the symbolism and artistic influences behind Goth is very often superior. They are more inclined than most to indulge in role play, read sci-fi, fantasy and horror novels, and watch cult TV shows and films with Gothic appeal. Geek Goths are also more likely to be into computer games and anime than other Goths. You are far more likely to find them in Forbidden Planet than in a goth club.
Geek Goths are some of the most intelligent, creative and open-minded Goths you’ll meet. Fittingly, they frequently have diverse and eclectic taste in music, although they may be more attracted to bands who regularly sing about Lord of the Rings, Cthulhu or other subjects with a high Geek interest.
Cabaret burlesque goth
burlesque cabaret goth
The sexy, extravagant world of cabaret and burlesque is a natural partner for Goth; indeed, corsets, garters and black suits have been a Goth staple for many years. Hence, the birth of “Dark Cabaret” was perhaps a natural inevitability.
The look, feel and sound of Cabaret Goth is typified by the Dresden Dolls, although there are many other bands and artists who have toyed with burlesque imagery and music: Siouxsie and the Banshees, Voltaire, Sex Gang Children and the infamous Tiger Lillies, to name but a few. Even “goth” metal artist Marylin Manson has flirted with burlesque (quite literally, if we count Dita Von Teese).
Enthusiasts insist that true cabaret and burlesque must be as classy as it is sexy; a skill at which Goths excel above most others. Female Cabaret Goths beautifully combine corsets, lace and feathers with high heels, garters and tassles. The men? Well, they often resemble peculiar cross between Dracula, Charlie Chaplin and a mime: but they have a style and class that is all their own.
Lolita goth Styles
Many western girls choose the casual lolita style because it is much easier to do and also less expensive. The clothes are usually very simple: A basic knee length skirt (sometimes paired with a petticoat), a T-shirt with a screen-printed image or a cutsew from any of the well known brands, and simple make-up and hairstyles. In addition, one might carry a teddy bear or cute bag.
casual lolita goth
Classic lolita goth
Classic Lolitas or Curashikku have a more traditional Victorian style. Their clothes are light-colored and generally more mature-looking. Most of them pay close attention to details including manners and language. Not only the appearance, but also the behavior mimics the classical period. They are rather reserved, very polite, and talk as if they are in earlier times.
Country Lolitas
Country Lolitas are very similar to Classic Lolitas. In a way, they are a cross between Classic and Sweet. The dresses are often made from floral prints and they sometimes carry straw hats and small baskets filled with flowers.
Elegant Gothic Aristocrat
Elegant Gothic Aristocrat (EGA) is a fashion style created by Mana. It is sold at his store, Moi-même-Moitié. The clothing is usually limited to black, white, and other dark, natural colors, and the main image is founded on elegance and aristocratic nobility. The clothes are generally simple and tight, with pants or long skirts that stand in direct contrast to the lolita style. Although generally thought to belong to the Japanese gothic and lolita subculture, EGA can be thought of as part of the visual kei music scenes as well. EGA is the preference among older gothic and lolita who start feeling that they are outgrowing the subculture. Many of these people will turn to EGA as a more adult alternative.
Elegant Gothic Lolita
EGL or Elegant Gothic Lolita is Mana's version of the lolita style. Many girls who wear this are fans of Mana or Malice Mizer. The style has a more fit, grown up feeling and often heavier make-up. The clothes are generally from Mana's clothing line Moite or other clothes that look like it (dark colors, goth-ish, some use of vinyl and other industrial type materials)
gothic lolita
Gothic Lolita (Gosuloli) clothes are black in color, or with a dark theme, but sometimes have a little white too. Makeup is usually dark so black eyeliner is typical and a pale complexion is preferred. Influenced by certain elements of western gothic fashion , this has probably become the most popular style within Lolita fashion and certainly the most recognized in the west. Accessories include
hatboxes, handbags and other bags, sometimes in the shape of bats, coffins, and crucifixes.
kudona
Kodona is the guy's version of lolita. It is also called “Prince” in Japan . Typical male clothes such as trousers, knee socks, boots, long shirts, and jackets with long tails are all worn. Both guys and girls can wear this style. Dandy Is very similar to Kodona, but is a more grown-up style.
dandy
Dandy is a male-type lolita style; the adult version of Kodona. Dandies often wear well-fit suits and vest - like a young man would wear in the early 19th century
Kimono Lolitas/Wa loli
Wa-lolis wear a combination of Kimono styles and Lolita fashion. Often they wear simplified Kimono tops with a Lolita skirt. The Kimono Lolitas strive to be elegant and beautiful, and it shows in their behavior and language. Accessories include traditional wooden fans
punk lolita
Punk Lolitas (Pankurori) wear mainly red and black clothes that often have elaborate screenprinting. Buckles, safety pins, and torn clothes are common, giving them a deconstructed look.
Sweet lolita goth
Sweet lolitas or Amalolis have a style that centers on attempting to look as cute and little-girlish as possible. They have lots of lace and ribbons, wear light colored clothes (such as white, pink, and baby blue), and often carry teddy bears. Girls who dress Sweet Lolita are typically younger. I think that that look the most doll like out of all the styles.
White Lolitas (Shirololi)
Amalolis are goths who wear all white
Qi-lolita
Qi-lolis blend traditional Chinese style elements with Lolita style (like the Chinese version of Wa-Loli). They usually wear a traditional-looking Chinese top with a lolita skirt or something similar.
Black Lolitas (Kurorori)
Black Lolitas (Kurorori), This style crosses over with gothic lolita, but isn't as strong. The girls have minimal make-up and simpler hair styles. They wear mainly all black but tend to want a cuter image (like a dark version of Sweet lolita). Thier clothing is usually plain in texture, such as cotton and have no designs.
Redneck
If you want to get technical, a redneck is someone who does a lot of hard labor out in the sun and therefore their neck turns red from sunburn. And for all the shit these people take, without 'em there wouldn't be a whole lot of food in this nation.
Generally, rednecks are white people possessed of traditional values, although some are rowdier. They work hard, love their families, and raise quality young men who have moral standing. While not all attend college, rednecks tend to have a strong advantage when it comes to common sense, and the ones that do go to college are some of the best people we have in the United States ( See George W. Bush ).
For all you assholes who stereotype them, the next time you see a redneck boy chopping wood at noon remember he's probably been up since four and done twice the work in an hour as you've done in a week. And then remember that he'll someday have a loving wife and kids who'll be with him all his life, while you stew in the bile of a divorce over your homosexual affair and lose custody of your goth-punk S.O.B. druggie brats. And then remember that he can kick your ass across his 600 acres of farmland without even trying. So be respectful.
Redneck is a historically derogatory slang term used in reference to poor white farmers in the Southern United States. It is similar in meaning to cracker (especially regarding Georgia and Florida), hillbilly (especially regarding Appalachia and the Ozarks), and white trash.
In recent decades, the term expanded its meaning to mean bigoted, loutish, and opposed to modern ways, and has often been used to attack Southern conservatives and racists. At the same time, some Southern whites have reclaimed the word, using it with pride and defiance as a self-identifier.
preppy
Preppy. Tricky little word. I think im gonna start with dictionary.com's definition:
A student or former student of a preparatory school.
A person whose manner and dress are deemed typical of traditional preparatory schools.
Obviously the definition that is more commonly thought of is the 2nd one. (even tho its a noun. nowadays, "preppy" is thought more of an adjective, rather than a noun. more of that will be explained later) However, when someone thinks of "preppy" nowadays, they think differently. the "prep look" (in the olden days) consisted of a suit, smartly done hair, and expensive shoes. (only rich people could send their kids to prep schools) these "prepies" no doubt behaved and dressed in a different maner than kids who had regular educations. when the word "preps", "preppy", "preppies" etc, started to be introduced into mainstream america, the meaning somehow changed from the traditional meaning, just as other things change, to the meaning today. "preps" started to be a word for people who dressed and acted a certain way (much like the old preppies). preps act "preppy". nowadays, the prime sign of a "prep" for a girl is someone who wears polos (always with the collar popped up), skirts (sometimes mini), or light-colored pants with a white ribbon belt or something similar, comfortable shoes (like tennis shoes), pearls, ponytails most often with a ribbon, or hair blow dried straight, and usually no makeup. their nails are kept nice, sometimes manicured with french tips or in a light cheerful color. black is almost non-existant in their wardrobe. conversly, pink and green are the main colors in their wardrobe, followed by white, blue, and red. same goes with men. however, some people do differ on some of these "signs of a prep". (example, a prep may wear a lot of makeup, or wear uncomfortable shoes) for boys, the polo is his only style of shirt (again, of course, with the collar popped), his pants always consists of cargos/khakis, and he wears loafers/comfortable shoes. their hair is short and neat (most of the time. there are, like the girls, variations on what "preppy" is). common clothing brands/stores preps are sure to wear are: ABERCROMBIE (a BIG one), charlotte russe, express, h&m, locoste, and tommy hilfiger, just to name a few. all clothes are worn in a "fitted" manor. (the girls wear tighter clothes than the boys tho) they all act in a snobbish manner. they exclude people who are not in their "exclusive" group. smartness, however varies from person to person. (usually, the preps in the olden days were smart b/c they went to actual prep schools.) however, the preps these days can be found in any (im gussing all) public schools, starting from, even, elementary schools. as the grades get higher, the preps get more and more noticeable. they also get meaner and meaner. preps (like their old counterparts) are reasonably rich (though maybe not that rich; but they certainly are NOT poor). preps are usually good to fairly good-looking. as always there are exceptions. i am not trying to be racicist, but they are usually caucasion. on some occations, there are blacks and asians. and on very rare occasions, hispanics. (that was meant to be a joke. please dont take that very seriously-about the hispanics part) preps also tend to have blonde hair and blue eyes. they must always travel around in packs, especially the girls. if there is a group of less than 3 (at the very least) they consider that "uncool". and when they do travel around in packs, they must be very loud and giggly and take up 3/4 to all of the hall space, forbiding anyone trying to get through them. teasing or taunting people not in their group is a normalcy. usually, they pick on "geeky", "dorky", "neerdy", "socially inept", etc peers. the girls use words that are so razor sharp that they actually might cause another girl to kill herself. the girls only talk about gossip. the boys are more physical, especially in the gym locker rooms. they might use their towels to snap them at other students, but that is not the furthest they will go to physically torment their peers. they usually come from excellent families, whose parents love them and parents that actually acted the same way like them in high school. preps' parents tend to have a blind eye towards their activities. preps go to the mall every week (at least) and watch tv shows such as The O.C, TRL, etc. most often they are in relationships with members of the opposite sex within their groups (sometimes refered to as "cliques"), and lose their virginities prior to graduating high school. Sometimes the girls talk a certain way that can annoy the hell out of you. (ex. "oh. my. god. she said that?? omg. i am like, so pissed now, like, i could kill her, like, u know, i hate her! like, she shouldnt have said that, like, who does she think she is??? its almost if shes like, prejudice or something, like, like i dunno, like, like, rasist." --in respose to a girl who said "better pull up those gucci pants") preps tend to use "like" in their everyday sentences as if it were the word "the" or "I". the point is, they use "like" a LOT. the hc king and queen, the prom king and queen, the class and school presidents, anything that involves student body elections, a prep will always be them (as student body elections are always a popularity contest). the reason they win is b/c anyone excluded from their group are always wanting to be accepted. the teachers love the preps. one surefire way of telling who a prep is, is if they do school sports, and more immportantly which sport they take. for girls... CHEERLEADING. its a good excuse to wear short skirts and wave pom poms. (we all know what those pom poms mean! jkjk...) they wear ribbons in their hair and do the splits. its the all american sport. almost all cheerleaders are preps. tennis is also a VERY preppy sport. laccross may be preppy for girls, but as the sports get dirtier, they get less preppier. for boys, LACCROSS is the prime sport. since boys will be boys, getting a little dirty is ok. tennis is also a preppy sport for male preps. football may be played by male preps. the preps will give their letter jackets to their girlfriends to wear as well. a prep's mentality is, high school will last forever, therefore, they think only about having fun and becoming prom queen, or being voted, "most popular". i could go on and on about what makes a prep and prep, but that would take a very long time. however, i would like to leave with this note: all in all, when all is said and done, its the person's attitude that makes him/her a prep.
A typical preppy girl wears pearls, polos with the collar popped, a skirt with a ponytail and a ribbon in the hair.
A typical preppy boy wears polos as well with the collar popped and khaki pants.
They both shop at Tommy Hilfiger and think they are so cool.
(haha, but they're not)
lolita
Lolita is very popular in Japan and in other countries. There are many styles of Lolita so I just most (if all) in one def.
Classic Lolita:
This is basically more traditional; it's filled with more earth-tones and jewel colors. They also have floral dresses fabric patterns. The clothing is sometimes frilled, but not over done, traditional, maid-style aprons. This style basically tries to be more Victorian.
Sweet Lolita or Amaloli:
This is more light-colored: colorfully patterned outfits, with lots of lace and frills. The dresses are knee-lengthed. They try to look as sweet and cute as possible.
Gothic Lolita:
This is likely the most popular style of Lolita. The colors are usually black, white, navy or burgundy. The makeup are dark in color, with black eyeliner(not all), and red or black lipstick(again, not all), while the other lolita are more light. The accessories that go with it are pocketbooks, hatboxes, handbags, and other Teddy bears.
Punk Lolita:
This combines punk fashion with Lolita. They wear things like plaid, buckles, safety pins, and chains. Garments like blouses, skirts, one pieces, and jumper skirts are also worn. The footwear is mostly boots, Mary Janes, and platforms. The colors that are often used are black, white, and red.
Wa or Kimono Lolita:
This is traditonal japanese clothing mixed with lolita. Usually a kimono top is worn with a lolita skirt.
Aristocrat Or Elegant Lolita:
This is more what Mana of Moi Dix Mois wears. He instead combines gothic lolita also. This is the more mature version of lolita and it embodies elegance.
Kodona:
We often see girls that wear Lolita. This a more manly version of it.
This is more victorian with knickerbockers, masculine blouses, shirts, trousers, and knee socks. This is often worn by schoolboys .
Dandy:
This is a more mature version of Kodona. This is bascially inspired from

2. I'm going to wear my loli blouse today./Those stockings are sort of loli-esque, dontcha think?/Hey you guys, I got this frumpy granny blouse from a thrift store today, does it look loli-able?/I'm gonna lolify my purse by making it cute and frilly.
3. Hey, loli-chan!
bikers
outlaw motorcycle club (sometimes known as a motorcycle gang) is a type of motorcycle club that is part of a subculture with roots in the post-World War II USA, centered on cruiser motorcycles, particularly Harley-Davidsons and choppers, and a set of ideals celebrating freedom, nonconformity to mainstream culture, and loyalty to the biker group. In the United States, "outlaw" clubs are not sanctioned by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) and do not adhere to the AMA's rules, but instead, generally, the club enforces a set of bylaws on its members that derive from the values of the outlaw biker culture.[1][2][3][4][5]
Some motorcycle gangs engage in criminal activity.[6] Besides their connection with motorcycles and the one percenter subculture, criminal motorcycle gangs are "unique among crime groups in that they maintain websites; identify themselves through patches and tattoos; have written constitutions and bylaws; trademark their club names and logos; and have publicity campaigns aimed at cleaning up their public image."[7][8] ATF agent William Queen, who infiltrated the Mongols, wrote that what makes a gang like them different from the Mafia is that crime and violence are not used as expedients in pursuit of profit, but that the priorities are reversed. Mayhem and lawlessness are inherent in living "The Life," and the money they obtain by illegal means is only wanted as a way to perpetuate that lifestyle.[9]
There are non-outlaw groups, like the Harley Owners Group, that adopt similar insignia, colors, organizational structure, and trappings like beards and leather outfits which are typical of outlaw gangs, making it difficult for outsiders to tell the difference. It has been said that these groups are attracted by the mystique of the outlaw image despite objecting to the suggestion that they are outlaws.[
Organization and leadership
Hells Angels MC New York City clubhouse
While organizations may vary, the typical internal organization of a motorcycle club consists of a president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, road captain, and sergeant-at-arms.[12] Localized groups of a single, large MC are called chapters, and the first chapter established for an MC is referred to as the mother chapter. The president of the mother chapter serves as the president of the entire MC, and sets club policy on a variety of issues.
Larger motorcycle clubs often acquire real estate for use as a clubhouse or private compound.
Membership
In some "biker" clubs, as part of becoming a full member, an individual must pass a vote of the membership and swear some level of allegiance to the club. Some clubs have a unique club patch (or patches) adorned with the term MC that are worn on the rider's vest, known as colors. The oldest motorcycle clubs in the U.S. are the Yonkers MC, founded in 1903, the San Francisco MC, founded 1904, and the Oakland MC.[citation needed]
In these clubs, some amount of hazing may occur during the prospecting period, ranging from the mandatory performance of menial labor tasks for full patch members to sophomoric pranks, and, in the case of outlaw motorcycle gangs, acts of violence.[13] During this time, the prospect may wear the club name on the back of their vest, but not the full logo, though this practice may vary from club to club. To become a full member, the prospect or probate must be voted on by the rest of the full club members. Successful admission usually requires more than a simple majority, and some clubs may reject a prospect or a probate for a single dissenting vote. A formal induction follows, in which the new member affirms his loyalty to the club and its members. The final logo patch is then awarded. Full members are often referred to as "full patch members" and the step of attaining full membership can be referred to as "being patched."[citation needed]

Outlaw motorcycle clubs who identify with this subculture are not necessarily criminals, with members expressing their outlaw status on a social level, and not necessarily equating the word outlaw with criminal activity.[1][2][3][4][5]

Outlaw clubs are often prominent at charity events, such as toy runs. Charitable giving is frequently cited as evidence that these clubs do not deserve their negative media image. Outlaw gangs have, however, been accused of using charity rides to mask their criminal nature.[8][14][15] The American Motorcyclist Association has frequently complained of the bad publicity for motorcycling in general caused by outlaw clubs, and they have said that the presence of outlaw clubs at charity events has actually harmed the needy by driving down public participation and reducing donations.[16] Events such as a 2005 shootout between rival outlaw gangs in the midst of a charity toy drive in California have raised fears around the participation of biker gangs in charity events.[17][18] Authorities have attempted to ban outlaw gangs from charity events, or to restrict the wearing of colors at events in order to avert the sort of inter-gang violence that has happened at previous charity runs.[19][20] In 2002 the Warlocks MC of Pennsylvania sued over their exclusion from a charity event.[21]
Colors

The primary visual identification of a member of an outlaw motorcycle club is the vest adorned with a large club-specific patch or patches, predominantly located in the middle of the back. The patch(es) will contain a club logo, the name of the club, and the letters MC, and a possible state, province, or other chapter identification. This garment and the patches themselves are referred to as the colors or cut (a term taken from the early practice of cutting the collars and/or sleeves from a denim or leather jacket). However, many non-outlaw motorcycle riding clubs such as the Harley Owners Group also wear patches on the back of their vests, with or without including the letters MC.
The club patches always remain property of the club itself, not the member, and only members are allowed to wear the club's patches. Hang-arounds and/or support clubs wear support patches with the club's colors. A member must closely guard their colors, for allowing one's colors to fall into the hands of an outsider is an act of disgrace and may result in loss of membership in a club, or some other punishment.[citation needed]
One-, two-, and three-piece patches

The colors worn by members of some motorcycle clubs will sometimes follow a convention of using either a one-piece patch for motorcycle associations, two-piece patch for riding clubs , or a three-piece patch for outlaw motorcycle clubs. The three-piece patch consists of the club logo and the top and bottom patches, usually crescent shaped, which are referred to as rockers. The number and arrangement of patches is somewhat indicative of the nature of the club. Though many outlaw motorcycle clubs wear the three-piece patch arrangement, this is not necessarily an indication that a club is an outlaw motorcycle club.
Law enforcement agencies have confiscated colors and other club paraphernalia of these types of clubs when they raid a clubhouse or the home of an MC member, and they often display these items at press conferences. These items are then used at trial to support prosecution assertions that MC members perform criminal acts on behalf of their club. Courts have found that the probative value of such items is far outweighed by their prejudicial effects on the defense.

Outlaw motorcycle club members can be distinguished by a 1% patch worn on the colors. This is claimed to be a reference a comment by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) in which they stated that 99% of motorcyclists were law-abiding citizens, implying that the last one percent were outlaws. The comment, supposedly a response to the Hollister riot in 1947,[24][25] is denied by the AMA - who claim to have no record of such a statement to the press, and that the story is a misquotation.[26] As a result, outlaw motorcycle clubs and their members are commonly referred to as "one percenters". They are also known as Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs or OMGs according to the ATF.
Other patches
Other patches may be worn by members, including phrases and symbols. The style or meaning of these other patches can vary between clubs. Some, such as a skull and crossbones patch, or the motto "Respect Few, Fear None," are worn in some clubs by members who commit murder or other acts of violence on behalf of the club
Motorcycle club colors
There are also wings or biker's wings which are earned something like jump wings or pilot's wings, but with various color-coded meanings. Reportedly, an outlaw biker who has had sex with a woman with venereal disease can wear green wings, while purple wings indicate having had sex with a corpse, among others.[However, it has also been suggested that these definitions are a hoax, intended to make fools of those outside the outlaw biker world, and also to serve the purpose of provoking outrage among the square public and authorities.
Frequently, additional patches may involve the use of Nazi symbols, such as swastikas or the SS death's head. These do not necessarily indicate Nazi sympathies, but serve to express the outlaw biker's total rejection of social constraints, and desire to generate anger and confrontation among those who fail to understand the biker way.
Gender and race
One-percenter MCs (OMCs) do not allow women to become full-patch members,[37][38] rather, women are submissive to the men, treated as property, victimized by being forced into prostitution or street-level drug trafficking, and often physically and sexually abused.[42] Any pay women receive is given to their individual men and sometimes to the entire club. Women's roles as obedient followers, and their status as objects, make these groups extremely gender segregated.[44] However, this has not always been the case; for example, during the 1950s, some Hells Angels chapters had women full members.
Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs are typically racially homogeneous, and can be racially exclusive.[7][46][47][48] which has led to creation of rival clubs such as the Bandidos and the Mongols Motorcycle Club.[49] MC members are not usually referred to by their given names, but instead refer to each other by nicknames, or "road names", sometimes even displaying their road name on the club vest.
[edit] Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs
The U.S. Department of Justice defines Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs as organizations whose members use their motorcycle clubs as conduits for criminal enterprises.[6] Both the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Criminal Intelligence Service Canada have designated four MCs as Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs (OMGs), which are the Hells Angels, Pagans, Outlaws MC, and Bandidos,[50][51] known as the "Big Four".[52] These four have a large enough national impact to be prosecuted under the Federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) statute.[53] The California Attorney General also lists the Mongols and the Vagos Motorcycle Club as outlaw motorcycle gangs.[54][55] The FBI asserts that OMGs support themselves primarily through drug dealing, trafficking in stolen goods, and extortion, and that they fight over territory and the illegal drug trade.[56] The Royal Canadian Mounted Police Gazette, quoting from the Provincial Court of Manitoba, defines these groups as: "Any group of motorcycle enthusiasts who have voluntarily made a commitment to band together and abide by their organizations' rigorous rules enforced by violence, who engage in activities that bring them and their club into serious conflict with society and the law".[57]
The FBI asserts that OMGs collect $1 billion in illegal income annually[58][59] and that street gangs, prison gangs, and OMGs are the primary retail distributors of illegal drugs in the US,[60][61] with OMGs dominating US methamphetamine trade distribution.[62][63] In 1985[64] a three-year, eleven-state FBI operation named Roughrider culminated in the largest OMG bust in history, with the confiscation of $2 million worth of illegal drugs, as well as an illegal arsenal of weapons, ranging from Uzi submachine guns to antitank weapons.[65] In October, 2008, the FBI announced the end of a 6-month undercover operation by agents into the narcotics trafficking by the Mongols Motorcycle Gang. The bust went down with 160 search warrants and 110 arrest warrants[66]
Canada, especially, has in the past two decades experienced a significant upsurge in crime involving outlaw motorcycle gangs, most notably in what has been dubbed the Quebec Biker war, which has involved more than 150 murders[67] (plus a young bystander killed by an exploding car bomb), 84 bombings, and 130 cases of arson.[57] The increased violence in Canada has been attributed to turf wars over the illegal drug trafficking business, specifically relating to access to the Port of Montreal[68] , but also as the Hells Angels have sought to obtain control of the street level trade from other rival and/or independent gangs in various regions of Canada.[69]
Members and supporters of these clubs insist that illegal activities are isolated occurrences and that they, as a whole, are not criminal organizations. They often compare themselves to police departments, wherein the occasional "bad cop" does not make a police department a criminal organization and the Hells Angels sponsors charitable events for Toys for Tots in an attempt to legitimize themselves with public opinion.[70]
Contrary to other criminal organizations, OMGs operate on an individual basis instead of top-down, which is how supporters can claim that only some members are committing crimes. Belonging guarantees to each member the option of running criminal activity, using other members as support - the main characteristic of OMGs being "amoral individualism" in contrast to the hierarchical orders and bonds of "amoral familism" of other criminal organizations such as the Mafia.[71]
[edit] Relationships among motorcycle clubs
In the United States, many MCs have established state-wide MC coalitions. These coalitions are composed of MCs who have chapters in the state, and the occasional interested third party organization. The coalition holds periodic meetings on neutral ground, wherein representatives from each club (usually the presidents and vice-presidents, but not always) meet in closed session to resolve disputes between clubs and discuss issues of common interest.
The largest one-percent club tends to dominate the coalition, using their numbers to impose their will on other clubs. Sometimes clubs are forced into, or willingly accept, support roles for a one-percent club. Smaller clubs who resist a large one-percent club have been forcibly disbanded by being told to hand over their colors or risk war.[72] With the exception of Law Enforcement Clubs, smaller clubs usually comply, since members of a family club are usually unwilling to risk injury or worse. Law Enforcement Clubs are not a territorial threat to 1% Outlaw Clubs and customarily do not instigate confrontations, avoiding unnecessary attention upon the 1% Clubs. Another tactic used by one-percent clubs is to force smaller clubs to join the AMA and wear an AMA patch. This is considered an act of shame by some clubs, and a club thus forced may wear an upside-down AMA patch on their colors as a form of protest and to retain their dignity.[citation needed]
Certain large one-percent MCs are rivals with each other and will fight over territory and other issues. In 2002, members of the Mongols MC and the Hells Angels MC had a confrontation in Laughlin, Nevada at the Harrah's Laughlin Casino that left three bikers dead.[73] Another melee, this time between the Hells Angels and the Pagans MC, occurred in February, 2002 at a Hells Angels convention in Long Island, New York. Police reports indicate the Pagans were outraged that the event was held on what they considered their "home turf".[74]
The local COC (Coalition of Clubs) has eliminated most of the inter-club rivalry. Club members tend to be older veterans, and given the cost of ownership of a Harley Dresser type motorcycle, increasingly well to do.
The "big 5" national 1% clubs tend to be territorial. Smaller clubs are allowed to form with the permission of the dominant regional club. Smaller clubs will usually be required to wear a support patch on their vests that shows their support for the dominant regional. Certain clubs are exempt from this requirement, such as the police clubs ("Iron Pigs") as well as the national military only clubs like the US Military Vets MC.
Most clubs are legally chartered as a 501(c) charitable organization and provide money and support to a variety of charities. Typical events include poker runs and '50-50' raffles where a portion of the proceeds are donated to the club's designated cause. Additionally the clubs provide support services and maintenance for members in the form of trailers, tools, etc.
The clubs also stress motorcycle safety and rider skills. Most will have a "road captain" who is responsible for safe riding. The members will generally have a pre-run safety check where required equipment, tires, etc. are checked. This is both for member safety and prevent giving the police any justification for stopping the pack. Most states have special provisions for "funerals and other processions" that allow the pack as a whole to go through a signal light as long as the first bike entered the intersection legally under the green. Packs tend to ride "high & tight" to prevent other vehicles from attempting to 'bull' into the pack. This type of behavior by a cage (car) is extremely dangerous to a pack and happens quite often, especially in larger runs of 20 or more bikes. Organized runs with large numbers will usually include "road guard" bikes whose responsibility is to block intersections and roads to allow the pack to enter/exit the highway or turn as a unit. Biker clubs have long initiations and many 'team building' exercises to foster trust and confidence between members. Someone who has marginal riding skills will be relegated to the back of the pack until their skills are such that they are capable of riding without the risk of bumping pegs with the other riders. Contrary to popular myth, most clubs don't imbibe large amounts of alcohol until the end of the run.
Cultural influence
The motorcycle gang has been frequently portrayed in media, prominently in the outlaw biker film genre. The FX series Sons of Anarchy portrays a professional criminal gang run by former Army Rangers and its interactions within their community and with other illegal gangs. The show's creator thought it was too obvious to have them be methamphetamine dealers, and so instead they deal in illegal guns.[75] The overall plot of Sons of Anarchy follows Shakespeare's Hamlet.[76] The Grand Theft Auto video game series produced Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned, where the player
loli-shota
Loli-shota is referring to the words lolita (which is the cutesy clothing style in which girls dress in clothes that make them appear like little girls) and shota (which is the term often used in fanfiction to indicate the inclusion of young, pre- and early pubescent boys in sexual acts, usually with much older adult men.) The terms, when used in conjunction, often represent a young boy who is overly feminine, or "cutesy".
A mix of the words Lolita (usually a girl between the ages 8-16) and shonen (meaning boy). It usually means a boy who look far younger then they are and often act in such a manner.
He said he wouldn't date a girl two years older then him, but duh he's not a loli-shota.
Jock
The term jock is a classic North American stereotype of a male athlete.[1]The jock stereotype is attributed mostly to high school and college athletics participants who form a significant youth subculture. In sociology, the jock is thought to be included within the socialite subculture, which also contains the preppies and Ivy-Leaguers.[2] As a blanket term, the jock is considered synonymous with an athlete.
Other words that may mean the same as "jock" include meathead, musclebrain, and the similar term musclehead. These terms are based in the beliefs that a jock is muscular, yet slower in the brain, and cannot carry a conversation on any topic other than one relating to weight-lifting or exercise.
List of stereotypical characteristics of jocks in media
General characteristics of the jock stereotype borrowed by media include:
* Very attractive girlfriend (usually a cheerleader) but shows signs of disrespect toward women (abuse, crude sexual jokes and other inappropriate behavior.)
* Homophobic
* Muscular/athletic, but conversely not considered intelligent
* Often perceived as getting preferential treatment solely due to athletic ability (e.g., passing grades undeserved, bad conduct overlooked)
* Popular among classmates or students similar to his own clique
* Generally popular with the girls, but is often despised by non-jock boys
* Competitive
* Arrogant
* Bullies, cruel and mean, in extreme cases antisocial or psychopathic personality structure with tendencies to violent crime
* Targeted by outcasts and the bullied, especially in school shootings

"Loli-Shota" refers to a character a little boy runs to avoid what he wants. For those who appreciate the innocence and tenderness loli (anime) characters, I'm not really sure what they say, or if there is a deadline. "Lolicon" usually for sexual interest in Lolis. Ben is used to it, is simply the Lolis Fan
Note that most of American culture, combining the word with Loli "Lolicon ", ie the loli character briefly mentioned in suggestive / sexual way. are very common misconception today so sure you talk to understand what you mean. It's more or less, depends on the community. If you are in a kind of great anime / Forums multicultural, it is likely that people are trying to understand, but for example if you are in a place full of American people, which will likely take the wrong approach.
